Company History
1964 Raymond Thomas Dainton started
his career in land drilling.
1976 Ray becomes a member of the
newly formed British Drilling Association which
continues to the present day.
1986 Rotary Test Drilling is formed
and continues as a family business with Ray still
acting as MD at the age of 78.
1990 Rotary Test Drilling plays an
important role in the development of the BDA
Accreditation Scheme. The first Competency Scheme to
be developed for the Land Drilling Industry, this
was to realise to some degree Ray’s long time
personal desire to promote land drilling crew’s as
safe competent certified skilled workers.
The British Drilling Association again approached
Ray asking him to form the first training centre for
the Land Drilling Industry, Rotary Test Drilling
(T&A) Ltd was formed, the company is still providing
a high level of bespoke training in all drilling
disciplines, endorsements and land drilling roles to
this day.
2000 The Land Drilling NVQ becomes
live realising Ray’s goal, finally the recognition
for Land Drillers as skilled and qualified people.
2016 Philip replaces his father as
a member of the British Drilling Association
Training & Education Committee, becoming one of the
British Drilling Association Auditing Team later
that year.
